Hair Extensions: Tape & Nano-Bead

Method choice, weight distribution and hairline safety — plus how to price a service where the stock costs you real money.

What you will be able to do

  • Question a supplier properly about Remy status, cuticle direction and sourcing
  • Screen a client for the conditions and medications that make extensions a bad idea
  • Match method to hair type, density and lifestyle rather than to what you were trained on
  • Map a head so weight sits where the hair can carry it and nowhere near the perimeter
  • Colour-match and root-shadow extension hair, and know when not to colour it at all
  • Remove every method covered without mechanical damage
  • Price hair, fitting and maintenance separately and take deposits that cover your stock

About this course

Extensions are one of the few services where you carry stock, and that changes everything about how they have to be sold. Get the pricing wrong and a fully booked extensions day can leave you with less in the bank than a day of blow-dries, because most of the money went out to the supplier before the client sat down.

They are also the service most likely to cause lasting damage if the weight is wrong. Traction alopecia at the hairline is not always reversible, and 'the client wanted it thicker' is not a defence.

So this course runs on two tracks at once: the technical one — hair quality, method selection, placement mapping, tension, blending and safe removal — and the commercial one, where you learn to price hair, fitting time and maintenance as three separate things instead of one number you regret.

Questions

Will this qualify me to fit extensions?
No. Fitting is a practical skill and needs hands-on training and method-specific insurance. This course is the knowledge layer around it — selection, safety, blending, removal and pricing — and it is genuinely useful whether you learned to fit last year or ten years ago. Check your policy covers each method you offer.
Does it cover keratin bonds and micro-rings?
Micro and nano rings are covered in full. Keratin/pre-bonded is discussed in the method comparison but not taught in detail, because the fitting is heat-tool specific and belongs in practical training.
What if my client wants to bring her own hair?
Covered directly in module 8. In short: you can agree to it, but price the fitting properly and put in writing that you cannot warrant hair you did not supply — there is a template line for exactly that.
How much stock do I need to hold?
Module 8 gives you a way to work it out from your own booking pattern rather than a number pulled from the air. For most single-operator stylists the answer is far less than a supplier will suggest.
