About this course

Nobody enjoys this subject, which is exactly why it is worth six hours. Almost every serious problem in a salon — the refund demand, the reaction, the online review that will not go away, the insurance claim — is made much better or much worse by decisions taken before anything went wrong: what you recorded, what you tested, what you asked, and what you said in the first ten minutes afterwards.

This course covers the consultation as a legal record rather than a chat, patch testing to the standard your insurer actually requires, the fact that consultation notes containing health information are special category data under UK data protection law, and what the Consumer Rights Act genuinely entitles a client to when a service is not performed with reasonable care and skill — which is not always what either party assumes.

It ends with the complaint itself: the first response, the offer, when to involve your insurer, and how to close it down before it becomes a review, a chargeback or a claim.

Questions

Is this legal advice?
No. It is training in what the rules are and how salons apply them, and it says so on every module. For a specific problem — a claim, a dispute, an employment issue — take proper advice. The course makes you a far better-informed client of that advice.
We are a small salon. Does GDPR really apply to us?
Yes. There is no small-business exemption, and salons hold exactly the kind of health information the rules treat most carefully. Module 3 is proportionate about it — the obligations for a three-chair salon are manageable, but they are not zero.
Should I just refund anyone who complains?
Sometimes, and module 5 is clear that a fast, generous resolution is often the cheapest outcome. But a reflex refund on a service that was performed properly sets a precedent and can create problems with your insurer. The course helps you tell the two situations apart.
Can I make my team take this?
Yes, and a lot of salons do. If you want several people through it, get in touch about a team rate rather than buying it separately each time.
